ASOCIACIÓN INICIATIVA INTERNACIONAL JOVEN (SPAIN)
Asociación Iniciativa Internacional Joven (Youth International Initiative Association) is an NGO from Málaga (Spain) created in 2003 from a group of youths who after participating in international programmes and activities, concluded that these experiences had been very important to change their life. Therefore, they decided to share them with other young people, collectives and associations, to enhance the interest in participating in international programs and exchanges, learning languages, realizing voluntary work, raising awareness, tolerance and respect for other cultures, etc. thereby contributing to personal and professional development of young people and adults. The mission of the organisation is to contribute to the comprehensive development and improvement of the quality of life of citizens, especially young people. We work at local and international level in the following areas of intervention: (1) Participation and Volunteering; (2) Culture of Peace and Interculturality; (3) Gender Equality; (4) Sport and Healthy Life; (5) Art and Creativity; (6) Personal development and entrepreneurship.
ASSOCIAÇÃO DE ARTISTAS URBANOS E DE TRANSFORMAÇÃO SOCIAL – AAUTS (PORTUGAL)
AAUTS is an artistic and cultural association, founded in 2019 by a group of urban artists, event promoters and teachers who decided to create their own entity after participating in local and international projects that made them see how urban art can be a valuable socio-educational tool of inclusion and development for the construction of a more just, inclusive, creative and innovative society. The organisation’s mission is to create artistic-educational environments that foster the integral development of young artists and raise awareness of the power of art, in its relationship with the city, as a tool for empowerment, inclusion and innovation. Among the main activities developed by the entity, we can mention: (1) Workshops and Training Courses for young people, artists and community leaders; (2) Production of rap music, videos and artistic performances on themes related to inclusion, community development and social transformation; (3) Interventions in public space through muralism and graffiti; (4) Activities of education in values; (5) Constitution of collaborative networks with artists, associations, schools, universities and other organisations.
SOL’OEIL D’AFRIK (TOGO)
Sol’Oeil d’Afrik is an artistic and cultural association based in Lomé (Togo), officially registered in December 2015. It has been founded by young Togolese dance professionals who wanted to contribute to enriching and enhancing African cultural heritage through dance. After participating in international meetings and exhibitions, they decided to create the association to pool their efforts, combine synergies, exchange good practices and carry out research, project and activities to protect African art and make it known to the world. Since its creation, Sol’Oeil d’Afrik has organized workshops and training courses for professionals in the fields of art and culture, educational and awareness projects using urban art as a tool for inclusion and development, dance classes and workshops in civil prisons, universities, community spaces and schools. The organisation collaborates with different institutions such as the University of Lomé, the French Embassy and the French Institute in Togo.
ASSOCIAZIONE CULTURALE ESPRESSIONE HIP HOP (ITALY)
It is a non-profit sociocultural association created in the summer of 2012 by an informal group of young urban artists from the city of Alba and its surrounding areas (Freesteps Crew). Currently it has more than 60 members of all ages, social classes, backgrounds and cultures. The aim of the entity is to promote hip hop culture, and all its artistic manifestations, being a tool for communication, expression and comprehensive development. The organization recognizes the importance of the street as a meeting point for the exchange of ideas and information flow. Its professionals work with children and young people, among whom there are people at risk of social exclusion and/or coming from other countries, to improve their competences, help them achieving their goals and promote social inclusion. Among the activities, we can underline: the international event Straight from the Heart, the summer camp for children and teenagers and several trainings and courses of breaking, popping, musical production, graffiti and Dying at different levels (basic, intermediate and advanced).
INICIATIVA DE DESARROLLO EDUCATIVO ARTÍSTICO Y SOCIAL ONG — IDEAS (GUATEMALA)
It is an NGO based in Guatemala City, that was founded in 2018 by urban artists, youth workers and social educators with previous experience in other organizations that felt the need to create an association that includes artists of the different elements of hip hop culture with the purpose of contributing to the transformation of the society and the improvement of the quality of life of the Guatemalan population, especially of the youth. Among the activities of the organisation, we can underline: creation of training and orientation courses for young people, actions of awareness and education in values, violence prevention and peaceful conflict resolution, development of international training programmes and activities, promotion of local, national and international volunteering and collaboration with other public and/or private entities. The main socio-educational tools of inclusion and social transformation are art, in particular urban art and hip hop elements, with an emphasis in dance, and culture.
KIDS BREAKING LEAGUE FOUNDATION — KBL (UNITED STATES OF AMERICA)
Kids Breaking League (KBL) Foundation is an organisation founded in 2017 by Victor Alicea (Kid Glyde), an internationally renowned breaking dancer. KBL brings together different coaches and instructors from breaking and urban dance groups and schools in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut. It was created with the aim of supporting the professionalization of young artists to make their passion their profession and change their lives by developing as people and professionals. Its motto is “changing lives one headspin at a time”. The organisation works as a platform designed for teenagers and young people to express their emotions through dance and get out of their comfort zone. Breaking is the socio-educational tool used to teach young people to be and believe in themselves so that they can develop as individuals and professionals and put their competences at the service of the community. KBL organises breaking training courses, events, exhibitions, workshops and competitions, including a breaking league for kids and young people.
